So, what's all this diatribe about?

What would happen if all Americans practiced insincere voting?

Interestingly, not much other than a lot of whining-that's probably
happened in the 2K vote.

All cultures have normative documents; what is unique about the US
Constitution is that it is so axiomatic. It is presumed that Benjamin
Franklin was the genius behind that, (we can tell by the edits he had
Jefferson make to the drafts-almost all were for the sake of axiomatic
formality.) Franklin was very well connected with the intelligentsia
of Europe where such concepts were being developed, (Francis Bacon,
the architect of modern axiomatic and inductive science, was a close
friend.)

The authors of the Constitution, (and amendments,) were well aware of
voting paradoxes, (presumably because of Franklin's and Jefferson's
French connections, possibly with Condorcet himself, or others in the
"Enlightenment"; they also had a lot of experience-drafting the
normative documents for the original 13 states.)

The way they solved the insincere voting problem was to make election
of the President not dependent on the popular vote.

If you look at the philosophy of the electoral college, it is a clever
solution, (but not the only solution.)

What it does is limit the power of the Presidency, (so popular vote
manipulation of any kind to get into office won't work-including
insincere voting in the popular vote,) and enhances the power of both
the Senate and Congress, (the electoral college has one vote for each
member of the House and the Senate, which is determined by population,
and state/geography, respectively.) But the electorate votes,
(usually, but it doesn't have to,) follow the local political agenda,
(and not necessarily the agenda of the President, Congressman, or
Senators.)

In some sense, it is kind of an enforced parliamentarian system, (it
forces alignment of the local political agenda, the Presidency, and
the Congress,) but does not have the Achilles heel of most
parliamentarian systems-that of not being able to form a government.

Kind of clever when you think about it.
