This is the home page for the ndex program. The ndex program is a command line utility for fast binary searching sorted flat file constant databases. Partial key searches and files with tab delimited fields are supported. The archive, ndex.tar.gz, consists of the ANSI Standard C sources for the ndex program, and the rename, program that can be used to update a database, without locking, in a multiuser environment.

There is a Usage page for the ndex program and a quality assurance, (QA) page in addition to the FAQs, page, and Links page to related sites. Collateral programs can be found on the Utilities page.

History

The ndex program was first released in the ReceivedIP program suite as bsearchtext, which was used for constructing fast whitelist/blacklist databases accessible in procmail(1) scripts. The program was later used for construction of a very large database of financial data for "data blades" for the tsinvest program at the NtropiX site, and the NdustriX program suite.

Availability

The ndex programs are freely available for Download and distributed as source code, at no charge, and provided under License.
