The web pages on this site are served by the Apache Web Server. The web pages were composed by using emacs, which was written by Richard M. Stallman, with the html-helper-mode.el macros written by Nelson Minar. The web pages were validated for HTML syntax compliance using Niel Bowers' weblint program. The links were verified using Rick Jansen's webxref program. SGML ISO8879/HTML 4.0 compliance was verified using the World Wide Web Consortium's on line validation service, and Dave Raggett's HTML TIDY as a verification tool. The NdustriX mailing list is hosted by John Conover, using procmail and smartlist to distribute the mailing list. Both procmail and smartlist were written by Stephen R. van den Berg. The mailing list archive's search engines use the rel program suite, written by John Conover. The site is remotely administered with rsync incremental file transfer over the ssh secure shell. The site pages are maintained with RCS, the Revision Control System available from GNU. All software is freely available and distributed as source code, at no charge. The site is hosted by Rahul.net, and runs on Red Hat Linux.

The manuscript was composed using TeX, with the LaTeX definitions, and set in the Computer Modern and Postscript fonts. For technical information on LaTeX, see LaTeX User's Guide & Reference Manual, by Leslie Lamport, Addison-Wesley Publishing Company, Reading, Massachusetts, 1986. For technical information on TeX, see The TeX book, by Donald Knuth, Addison-Wesley, Publishing Company, Reading, Massachusetts, 1984. TeX is a trademark of The American Mathematical Society. The sources to TeX and LaTeX are freely available by anonymous ftp to ftp://ftp.shsu.edu/pub/tex/.

The editor used in the composition of the manuscript was GNU Emacs, with the Auc-Tex definitions. The sources to GNU Emacs are freely available by anonymous ftp to ftp://prep.ai.mit.edu/pub/gnu/. The sources to Auc-Tex are freely available by anonymous ftp to ftp://ftp.iesd.auc.dk/pub/TeX/LaTeX/.

The bibliographic database for the manuscript was maintained by BibTeX. The sources to BibTeX are freely available by anonymous ftp to ftp://ftp.shsu.edu/pub/tex/.

The citations and references were inserted in the manuscript using the RefTex definitions. The RefTex definitions are freely available by anonymous ftp to ftp://ftp.shsu.edu/pub/tex/.

The page header and footers for the manuscript were defined using the fancyheadings definitions in LaTeX. The sources to fancyheadings are freely available by anonymous ftp to ftp://ftp.shsu.edu/pub/tex/.

The manuscript's index was made by the program gnuindex. The sources to gnuindex are freely available by anonymous ftp to ftp://prep.ai.mit.edu/pub/gnu/ in the texinfo distribution.

The spelling in the manuscript was verified using ispell with GNU Emacs. The sources to ispell are freely available by anonymous ftp to ftp://ftp.cs.ucla.edu/pub/ispell/.

The portable device output of LaTeX was converted to Postscript using the program dvips. The sources to dvips are freely available by anonymous ftp to ftp://ftp.shsu.edu/pub/tex/.

The graphs in the manuscript were made using the program gnuplot. The sources to gnuplot are freely available by anonymous ftp to ftp://dartmouth.edu/pub/gnuplot/. The graphs were converted to Encapsulated Postscript and imported directly into LaTeX using the epsf definitions. The sources to epsf are freely available by anonymous ftp to ftp://ftp.shsu.edu/pub/tex/.

The schematic pictographs in the manuscript were made using the program xfig. The sources to xfig are freely available by anonymous ftp to ftp://ftp.x.org/pub/contrib/. The Encapsulated Postscript export was done at 25% size, in portrait mode. Many of the pictographs were translated from the xfig file format to Encapsulated Postscript using the fig2dev program that is distributed with the xfig sources.

The tables in the manuscript were made using the sc spreadsheet calculator program. The sources to sc are freely available by anonymous ftp to ftp://prep.ai.mit.edu/pub/gnu/.

In addition, the document and revision control functionality was provided by the program rcs. The sources to rcs are freely available by anonymous ftp to ftp://prep.ai.mit.edu/pub/gnu/. The revision control data was imported directly into LaTeX using the rcs definitions. The sources to the rcs definitions are freely available by anonymous ftp to ftp://ftp.shsu.edu/pub/tex/.
